Nonprofit disaster technology startup, Disaster Central, announces release of the “B-Ready” mobile app to help individuals, families and businesses mitigate disaster impacts
The App securely stores important files and documents on a cloud (HIPPA/PII) compliant server, provides emergency tips and guides; the app is free to members of Disaster Central membership program
MISSOULA, MONTANA – Today, Disaster Central, a disaster technology oriented nonprofit organization, announces the release of the B-Ready mobile app that allows its users to help individuals, families, and small businesses uniquely prepare better for disasters as well as home and workplace emergencies. The mobile app securely stores important information and critical documents, such as key medical information, insurance information, and medical histories, on an encrypted cloud server. The app also lets its users to easily create, access, customize and stores by-step plans and readily contact government agencies; access emergency tips and guides, and even share emergency plans with family via SMS texting or emailing.
“The B-READY app by Disaster Central just might save you or a loved one’s life when faced with a disaster, natural or manmade,” said John Romano, Executive Director of Disaster Central. “We developed a digital method to connect victims to resources using a smart phone. Disaster Central’s B-READY app is a much-needed emergency preparedness solution for personal and business recovery and continuity.”
The app is free to members of Disaster Central, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to preparing communities for disasters. Disaster Central was founded to better coordinate social services and local Volunteer Organizations Assisting in Disaster (VOADs). According to a recent survey, an average of 54% of respondents aged 35 – 75+ had disaster supplies on hand, and approximately 42% of those same age respondents had developed a household disaster plan and discussed it with family.
According to the 2022-2026 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Strategic Plan, one of the agency’s goals for the next four years is to, “Promote and sustain a Ready FEMA and prepared nation.” It will accomplish this by, “…Increasing the nation’s overall emergency management capabilities at all levels of government, as well as the private sector, the nonprofit sector, and among individuals.” Disaster Central’s B-Ready app amplifies this goal and empowers individuals and the private sector to mitigate, navigate, and respond to disasters.
